We will be going on a family trip soon for the first time in a while. Some family members now have children and they are all 3 years or younger at this point. I do not have any kids of my own yet but I will be staying with my sister and her husband who have a 9-month-old. I have heard horror stories from people when it comes to traveling with small children. What have your experiences been like?

Traveling with kids of all ages is hard, especially on planes. I think that tends to be the worst part for 3 and under. You can't really do anything if they start crying and you become enemy number one if they do this whilst people are trying to sleep! I have only traveled once with a 2-year-old and it was a short flight. I don't think it is ideal to go on a flight longer than 4 hours with a child under the age of 10.

I was thinking the same thing for the reason you gave. You just have no control over them if they are going to cry or be upset! I have heard of them having bad ear pain as well and not being able to understand why which scared them even more. Luckly, it is only a 2.5-hour flight!

I’d say traveling with little ones isn’t as scary as people make it out to be. I’ve stayed with family who have babies and toddlers, and it mostly comes down to planning and going with the flow. I always use packing cubes to keep everyone’s clothes and essentials organized. it makes it so much easier to find what you need quickly.

Flights or car trips can be unpredictable, but if you’re patient and take things slowly, it’s totally doable. A lightweight stroller or baby carrier that’s easy to fold and carry makes life a lot easier too. It can be tiring, but spending time together and seeing the little ones enjoy new experiences makes it really worthwhile.
