I have been to Budapest twice and have never had an issue with any sort of crime. The last time I had been in Budapest was in 2013 so unless crime has gone up, it just seems silly. All sorts of review sites talk about it and I have not seen any sort of issue with it. I think the place is beautiful and full of life, culture, and amazing food.

It is a common issue but it doesn't mean it will happen to everyone who goes. It is just more common here than in other areas. The biggest issue tends to be taxis wanting to rip you off.

Oh okay, so a petty crime is a taxi up ticking your fair? I think a lot of places have drivers that do this and most people don't pay enough attention to know any better. I was worried more so about muggings and things of that nature. This is not that big of a deal.
