Are there any special requirements for UK citizens to travel to Ireland?

It has been a long time since I had been there and I would love to plan a trip for my next vacation. Since it is close by and not too expensive to visit. I am just not sure if I need anything special. I have been told I do not need a valid passport, just a general ID - is this true?

As far as I know, you can freely travel without any restrictions. I don't know if this was changed since COVID though. I was in Ireland in 2018 and didn't need to fill out any forms, or anything like that.

Thanks! I will double-check that. I would imagine they have anything that has been changed or updated on their government websites when it comes to COVID. I was just concerned that I may be overlooking something.
